Mifepristone “review” was pushed by anti-abortion groups
The Food and Drug Administration will proceed with a safety review of mifepristone, one of two drugs commonly used in medication abortions, the Wall Street Journal first reported. CBS News reported on June 5, 2026 that an official confirmed the study will evaluate hundreds of thousands of cases retrospectively, and the White House claims the study has been underway for months. The FDA’s move is a win for anti-abortion groups, who hope to see the abortion pill further restricted and who had been frustrated by the administration’s slow pace on its review.
Lawsuit over DOJ’s demand for gender-affirming care records
A group of trans young people sued the Department of Justice on June 2 to block NYU Langone from having to turn over personal health records in response to a Texas subpoena. “The Trump administration is trying to intimidate health-care providers…and erode New Yorkers’ fundamental privacy protections,” Bobby Hodgson, an attorney on the case, said. The suit follows others in California and Maryland asking courts to keep hospitals from giving data about minors getting gender-affirming care.

Nevada Supreme Court blocks parental consent abortion law
Young people in Nevada can temporarily access abortion care without parental consent. Last week, the state’s Supreme Court reversed a lower-court ruling that would have allowed a decades-old law requiring minors to get either a parent’s permission or a court order to take effect. A federal injunction had previously blocked the law, but it was revived in July 2025, prompting a local Planned Parenthood affiliate to sue. In its 22-page ruling, the state’s top court called the law “unconstitutionally vague.”
